Privacy policy (Datenschutzerklärung)

Information pursuant to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / DSGVO). The party responsible for data processing (Verantwortlicher) is the person named under “Responsible for content” above.

What we process — and why

• Your photo & questionnaire answers. Only when you tap “Calculate camel value”, the photo you upload and the answers you give are sent off to generate your playful result. The request is proxied through a Cloudflare Worker (which adds the API key server-side) to Anthropic PBC, whose Claude model analyses the image. We do not store your photo on our servers — it is processed transiently to produce the result and is not used to train models. Legal basis: your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, given by tapping the calculate button.
• Your local history. Past results, the photo preview and your language choice are stored only in your own browser (IndexedDB / localStorage). This data never reaches us; you can delete it any time from the History panel or via your browser settings.
• Server & CDN logs. Our hosting and content-delivery provider may process technical access data (e.g. IP address, time, user agent) in standard server logs to deliver the site securely. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure, functioning service, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
• Amazon affiliate links. Some suggestions link to Amazon search pages carrying our partner tag (cmlmxxng-21). If you follow such a link, Amazon processes your data under its own privacy policy and may set cookies; we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases but receive no personal data about you.

Recipients & international transfers

Data may be processed by Anthropic PBC (AI appraisal) and Cloudflare, Inc. (proxy / delivery), and — only if you click an affiliate link — by Amazon. Processing by US-based providers can involve a transfer of data to the USA, which relies on those providers’ standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, and to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting processing already carried out). You may also lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact the controller at the postal address above. As we do not store your photos or results, most requests will concern only the technical logs held by our providers.

Terms of use (AGB)

The Camel Calculator is an entertainment service. The “camel value” it produces is a playful, fictional figure with no real-world, monetary or factual meaning, and must not be read as an assessment of any person — use it for fun only.

Upload only photos you are allowed to use, and only of people who consent to being appraised. By tapping the calculate button you accept these terms and consent to the processing described in the privacy policy above. The service is provided “as is” without warranty; to the extent permitted by law we accept no liability for the AI-generated results. Affiliate suggestions are marked as “Ad”.
